Today is Shane's 6th birthday! How in the world is it possible that my nephew is already 6?! It seems like just the other day he was cracking us all up with his toddler style "pimp walk", his sincere (and sometimes fake) belly laugh, his inappropriate comments about beer bottles, his very first soccer game, his original songs with Buddy the guitar, his sweet voice on my voicemail when he was first learning words. There's nothing else I can say except that I friggin love that boy.
Last night Nick made the absolute best burgers of all of time.
In fact, the entire night reached "best of all time status." We ate the above burgers along with fries, strawberries (with powered sugar) and a few Bud Lights outside on the deck. It was so warm out and eventually started to storm. It was pretty much flawless and made me very excited to have nights like this all the time with Nick.
My volunteer shift at the therapeutic riding center is going so well. So, so well actually. I look forward to going all week long. I am beginning to feel more comfortable with the students, other volunteers and of course, the horses. Last time I was there I was saying goodbye to my most favorite horse and he snotted all over my face and shirt, including in my eye and on my mouth. Real cool, Giz.
Jackie & Nick, Nick and I went to see Fun a couple of Thursdays ago. Cannot express in words how amazing it was, so I'm not gonna try. Just gonna show a picture of their front man, Nate, who killed every single song.
I'll admit this is weird, but lately I've been really craving bologna. I caved in and bought some this past weekend. Then proceeded to eat it for 4 meals in a row. A bologna sandwich with mayo & mustard...mmhmmm.
I did mix it up one time and fried it instead. Makes me think of my Momma who always made fried bologna sandwiches for us growing up.
Nick and I finished the origami cranes! 1000 folded and done. Nick is a pro at hanging them. He's already got over a 100 hung. I'm really beginning to feel the wedding planning pressure. We're at just over 4 months away! Lots to do always.
Speaking of planning things, my momma, sisters & I successfully hosted our cousin's bridal shower! Other than some last minute hustling, it went off without a hitch! Because my cousin didn't want a traditional shower we made it a favorite things party. All of the pictures we took are on Jackie's camera, but just imagine her beautiful apartment with beautiful decorations and beautiful people. Oh, and beautiful food too :)
A few weeks ago I went to the Snapstagram launch party. This company was created by Lydia's bro, Jared and two of his buds. They make it possible to get square prints of Instagram photos. In a really trendy, fresh way. There is already so much Snapstagram hype and I am so inspired by their go-get-em attitude. I still don't have a smart phone (I'm hanging on to my flip until it dies) but oh man, do I want one now!
A couple Fridays ago Nick and I shook it up and tried something new....tennis! As we were walking to the courts by his house, old school wood racquets, a bag of balls, mail to be delivered all in hand, he turned to me and asked, "So, do you feel like as much of a tool as I do right now?" Absolutely.
It turns out we are both terrible. My backhand consistently sent balls over the fence and Nick whiffed more than he actually made contact. Definitely not our sport. But, we're determined to practice until we're tennis all-stars.
My beloved dog's (would have been) 19th birthday was April 15. Every year on that date Jackie and I eat pancakes (Corki's favorite food) in honor of her. This year's tradition brought us to NorthStar. Goodness gracious, they were amaze.
Nicholas take pretty phone pictures. In the parking lot that is the highway during evening rush hour.
I watched two movies on Sunday. First was The Hunger Games in the theater with Jackie and Erin. Complete with Donettes & orange juice, by the way.
The movie was great. There were some obvious differences between the book and movie (there always are), which I didn't love...but overall, I really enjoyed it.

I finished all three books within a month. To say I was emotionally attached would be an understatement. I can't talk about what happened at the end of the series because I don't want to give anything away, but I'll just say this: I adored them, in a seriously emotional kind of way. For about an entire hour after I finished the last page I just sat there, staring off into space. Trying to wrap my brain around it all. Loving it, mourning it, wanting more of it, crying at random. Good stuff right there.

The second movie I watched was Like Crazy.
I had extremely high expectations because when I saw the preview I got...."the feeling." The feeling I've only gotten twice before. This was another emotional adoration type of movie. Meaning, I adored it and it made me super emotional. Not necessarily crying (although I did), but just made me feel things. I think it makes my top 10 list.
For Christmas Erin gave me a "One line a day" memory book. Basically, every day I write a few sentences about what happened or how I'm feeling. I'm so thankful for it because lately time has not been in my favor and blogging has fallen from the top priority list. And I don't want to forget a second of this life of mine.
