I like to number things

1.) I have arm muscles again. Thank you, Jillian Michaels.

I have been seriously "shredding" for about three weeks now. Not every day, but still on a regular basis. I am about to graduate to level two and I cannot wait. I have been on level one forever it seems like. I've shredded in the past but then would quit so I have probably done the level one workout more than 20 times.

Now when I do the level one workout my new challenge is to quote every single word that Jillian says. I'm almost there....Chop Chop Ladies!

I bought one of her other videos, "No More Trouble Zones" but have yet to do it. Has anyone tried it?

2.) I am watching the Bachelorette right now and I really hope Reid comes back and steals her away! If not Reid, then Kiptyn. I think.

The show after The Bachelorette is actually pretty good! I think it's called "Dating in the Dark." I got sucked in last week (surprise, surprise) and I thought it was muy entertaining.

3.) A few posts ago I wrote about my struggles to find the perfect nail polish. I live a hard life, obviously.

Well, I broke down and bought an eight dollar of OPI nail polish and I am happy to report it is amazing! It doesn't get sticky and it does not chip or peal. This is the color I've been rockin for the past couple weeks...but I will be buying another bottle very soon!

4.) My favorite movie of all time is Across the Universe. I watched it twice this past weekend. Mmmm I love it.

5.) My next photography project from Nick is due tomorrow. Its all about RUST.

(I hesitated putting these up here because I don't want Nick to see them until I "formally present" them. But, then I remembered Nick has no desire to read this blog so I'm safe! Ha.)

6.) August is gonna be a great month. I've got lots to look forward to. Friend visiting from Florida, American Idol concert (ohhh yeah!), lots of Nick's gigs, hopefully some Erin time, teacher in-service days when I am totally redecorating my room, and lots more.

7.) I am thinking about doing a weekly blog post thing. Maybe something about music? Stay tuned....

Quick Post

(I promise I will put pictures up tomorrow or Thursday. I have a million and I really don't feel like spending time on it tonight).

So, instead here is a glimpse into my life on July 14, 2009:

I have....Pink Eye.

Ugh. Annoyance x 100. This is the only bad part about working with little munchkins...I get sick every other day (not really). It's actually starting to get better though because my good ole immune system is finally building up again.

But, for some reason the Pink Eye always gets me. I don't know how because I am constantly washing my hands. So bad that they all are dry and cracked (which is amazing because I have hyperhydrosis...a whole other story for another day, trust me). Anyway, I found out one of the kids in the other toddler class was out with pink eye yesterday so he must be the culprit.

I usually wear contacts, but I have to wear my glasses until my eye gets better. I don't know how people survive with glasses. Seriously, I am impressed. I just cannot get used to them.

Before I went to the gym today I thought..."Oh, wait. I don't know if I can run today because I'm wearing my glasses." Then later I wanted to wear a hat but I thought..."I can't wear a hat because I'm wearing my glasses." The same thing with a headband and sunglasses.

But, glasses-wearers must still be able to do/wear these things, so I'll just need to suck it up (and stop complaining) for one whole week.

9 for the 9th

Since today is July 9th, I have 9 random things to say....

1.) I loved all of your comments on my last post. I love that so many of you have been there before and don't think I'm too crazy!

2.) I used to be a nail-bitter. Really bad. But I haven't bit my nails since last summer (except for one really intense OSU football game). I've found if my nails are painted I won't bite them. But, now I have another problem. Peely/chippy nail polish. It. drives. me. crazy. For the past year I've just been buying the really cheap kind, because hey, I'm cheap (pssh). Well, today I broke down and bought an 8 dollar bottle of OPI nail polish. It better be good. And chip free. And peely free.

3.) I cannot stop looking at blog backgrounds. It's like a sickness. Just when I think I am totally happy with how my blog looks, I see a new design that I just adore. I'm just impressed I don't switch it every day.

4.) Nick has a boat. And I have not been out on it yet this summer. Something is just not right with that.

5.) My friend, Erin, is starting a blog! Yay! She sends me random texts about how frustrated she is with all the formatting. Here's one from yesterday: "Alright. My html is all foreign and I can't find the stuff to change for the 3 columns...Something to think about before I call you tonight"

Oh, I feel her pain. Ha ha. I still want to get a banner thing for the top of mine with pictures and stuff, but I haven't had time to mess around with it yet.

6.) My sister, Steph, gave me a belated birthday gift yesterday. An Elvis book full of quotes, trivia, and more. I love Elvis. I have some of the greatest posters of him when he was still young and handsome.

The first few lines of the song, "Free Falling" describes me perfectly. It could seriously be written about me.

She's a good girl, Loves her Mama
Loves Jesus, and America too.
She's a good girl, Crazy about Elvis
Loves horses, and her boyfriend too.

7.) I have a new favorite girl...Amie Miriello. I had never heard of her before a couple weeks ago, but decided to buy her album off Amazon. Well, ever since it came I have not stopped listening.

My thoughts on the video...

Pros:

  • I love love love her voice and this song.
  • She has great hair. And I would love to own lots of stuff in that room.
  • The whole idea of the video is pretty awesome with all the photos.

Cons:

  • I was waiting on her to rock out on the guitar, but instead she just kinda held it then played the same chord over and over again at the end.
  • Nick Lachey in the middle of the video? That was weird.

8.) I need a new planner desperately. Planner shopping is a big deal for me. I need the perfect one. I love lists and I need to be organized at all times. I'm the kind of person who will write out a to-do list, and if I don't like my handwriting, I will write it again.

9.) I have a ton of pictures to post from the 4th of July, but I really didn't feel like uploading them all to the computer tonight. I'll work on it for tomorrow. Or let's be real....next week.

I just broke up....

.....with my restaurant.

It was a happy day.
It was a sad day.

I had been working there for FOUR years, but I finally decided it was time. I walked in totally prepared, but my reaction completely shocked me.

After the awkward "I'm quitting" talk, I walked around saying goodbye to everyone and soaking it all in. After a few hugs my eyes started to water so I made up an excuse that I had to leave because I really didn't want to cry in front of everyone!

I almost made it to my car when the real water works kicked in. Then, I spent the drive home with tears streaming down my face.

Did I mention I'm crazy? And hormonal?

Nick should be used to my emotional-ness, but he still thought I was absolutely insane. He kept saying, "Wait...you just quit your job that you hated, and you're crying?!"

But here's the thing....

I was there for four years. Even though it was a little serving job, it was still a big part of my life.

I will never make another trio.
I will never mix up the hot mustard and chili paste.
I will never have to ask someone if they would like white or brown rice.
I will never have to sweep out my section and follow the closer around to get their signature.
I will never have to sign other servers out.
I will never have to be on Coffee/Tea, Trios, Reach-In, Side stations, or Restock.
I will never have to explain that fried rice doesn't come with the meal. Sorry.
I will never get that amazing food for 50% off.
I will never have to complain about awful sections.
I will never get annoyed again by flaky hostesses (from the server perspective anyway).
I will never receive another terrible tip.
I will never receive another amazing tip.
I will never get to meet complete strangers on an every day basis.
I will never wear that hideous black uniform again.

Sigh.

It was a great job. And crazy as I am, I'm really gonna miss it.

(But, lets be real too....I am so happy to only have one job finally!)

So, lets recap...In the past month I have....
  • Graduated college
  • Started a full time job
  • Quit my good ole serving job
  • Turned 23

I think I have an excuse to be emotional!

Happy July!

  • It is already July! How can that be?! Because it is the first of the month that means its Rabbit's Day! Does anyone know about this? I'm not sure if we made it up, but supposedly if the very first thing you say when you wake up on the 1st is "Rabbit's Day" then you will have good luck for the entire month. I actually did it today, so hopefully the good luck will start coming!

  • This past weekend was pretty great for the most part. Erin came down for her visit and the night was a success except for one big thing....I lost my camera. Luckily it wasn't my new DSLR, but I still loved my Canon point and shoot. Ugh. I don't even want to dwell upon it anymore. So I won't.

  • The Bachelorette is really heating up. But, I was really disappointed with this week's episode. Wes is still around?! Come on Jillian! I can't even stand the sound of his voice. It makes me want to roundhouse kick him in the face. I am so sad Michael is gone. His family was so sweet and you can tell he genuinely cared about Jillian. I'm sad Jesse is gone too. I really liked him. And his brother cracked me up. And then there's Ed....I think he is a great guy, but it just sucks we didn't get to see him hometown visit. Kiptyn's awesome, but I didn't love his family (I feel terrible saying that). And finally Reid. I think he looks just like Chandler Bing, haha. He just came out of nowhere in this competition. But, I like him and I like that he is different from the "Bachelor/ette type" aka Jake, Kiptyn, etc. We shall see what happens....

  • One of my first posts ever on this blog was about my fish Puddy. Catch up here if you desire. Well, Puddy died a week or so ago. I was surprised with how sad I was because let's be honest...Its hard to love a fish. But, when I woke up and he was floating around in his bowl, my heart sunk just a little bit. I was worried about my nephew Shane because he always loved Puddy and because he was the one who actually named him. I called Shane the day it happened and here was the conversation:

Me: "Shane, Puddy died. Are you so sad?"

Shane: "No."

Me: "Oh.....ok." (Totally not the reaction I was expecting).

Shane: "How did Puddy die?"

Me: "Well, I don't know. When I woke up I just saw him floating around at the bottom of his bowl."

Shane: "HAHAHHAHA!"

He may be cute, but Shane is obviously a very cruel three year old. Haha.

  • Remember how I said Nick is giving me photography assignments in attempt to make sure my new camera gets used the way it should. Well I checked my email yesterday and I received my first assignment! Nick is totally serious about this...it cracks me up! Here's the email:

Project #1:

Start date 6/30/2009
End date 7/14/2009

Pick one of the following titles for your own interpretation. You have 2 (two) weeks to complete this project. The project must be presented to me by email, computer, print out of picture or even by the camera its self. You must submit 7 or more "Prints" to be graded. Since I am no real teacher you will be graded on the "Coolness Scale"

Grades go as follows;

Awesome 100-91
Beautiful 90- 82
Cool 81-73
Damn Close 72-67
Eh 66- 61
For Real? 60- 0

1. Rain Rain Rain - What does rain look like from your eyes?
2. It bugs me being small - Ahhh The life of a bug.
3. Patriot Day - Only real Americans wave flags.

p.s. Any one of these you choose is fine but if you would like extra credit then you can submit 3-6 pictures from another title. You can get up to 10 extra coolness points.

Goodluck homie.

  • Isn't he so funny and awesome? I'm going to do # 3, but might choose one of the others for some extra "coolness points." This will be fun.

  • I found this video today and I cannot stop watching it. It has been playing on repeat the entire time I've been typing this. So beautiful. You should listen to the original by Lily Allen too. Very good stuff. And I'll admit it, I cried the first couple times I watched it. I'm such a sap.

If I don't post again until after the holiday, I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and ridiculously fun 4th of July!
